Hello, I am Chris Carr. I have an MA in Classical Studies and have also studied Medieval and Renaissance history at Undergraduate level.
My particular area of interest is social history: how ordinary folk lived, what they wore and ate, kept clean and healthy and how the major events of history changed their lives. I am an experienced historic cook and can be seen in Modernhistory.tv on YouTube and in series 3 episode 5 of The Great British Dig.
I am a member of the Medieval Sokemen, a Peterborough-based living history group specialising in medieval history but also covering the Tudor era. As a group, we attend some of the most prestigious medieval events such the Tewkesbury Medieval Festival and the Bosworth Medieval festive.
I am also a founder member of The Longthorpe Legion, a group who re-enact the IX Legion and aim portray the wider effects of the Romans’ arrival in Britain and who appear regularly at the Peterborough Heritage Festival.
